INSTRUCTORS > TED JOHNSON BIOGRAPHY
Along the way, he has had the pleasure to work with choreographers Amy Sue Rosen, Eun Me Ahn, Cheng-Chieh Yu, Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Colleen Thomas, Bill Young, and Leslie Satin, among others. His improvisational work has been featured in collaborative ventures onstage with Kirstie Simson and Gabriel Forestieri/Project LIMB. Ted has a background in visual arts (drawing, painting and design), theater and voice. Beginning in 1989, he began exploring contact improvisation with Andrew Marcus, and has continued that exploration with several major artists in the field, K.J. Holmes, Nancy Stark Smith, Chris Aiken, Ray Chung and Kirstie Simson. He has taught Contact Improvisation for Movement Research, and for Leslie Satin at NYU. Ted began his studies in Klein Technique™ with Barbara Mahler and Susan Klein in 1990. It has had a profound influence on his body and approach to understanding movement. It has greatly informed his dancing and remains the strongest underpinning in his work. Ted Johnson: ted@kleintechnique.com |
